I'll be participating in a workshop and staged reading of a new play by Sophie Valera Heinecke (a fellow EBP member!) with the Upstream Artists Collective.
TRASH LORD: DOMESTICATION
by Sophia Valera Heinecke
directed by Keith Paul Medelis
A work in progress.
A performative gender exploration about losing and finding oneself, domesticating wild animals, and Jane Goodall.
Utilizing a tapestry of personal stories and accounts based on the research work of Goodall, Jared Diamond, and other experts in the field.
Trash Lord: Domestication is not well behaved.
Part of the soon to be debuted Forest Floor Mirco-Residency granting artists quick and focused time to stage something immediate with "more-than-a-reading" to cap it off.
Hosted by Sidewalk NYC in Alphabet City. Come early for some comedy show and stay late for some music show that are also probably neat. Have at least two drinks or food items cuz it's a requirement. And there stuff is good.
FREE ADMISSION otherwise.
Getting into PRODUCER mode to bring this new work by French theater artist Sophie Amieva to Brooklyn!
by Sophie Amieva Theater Company produced in collaboration with Experimental Bitch Presents
Medusa, an original movement theater piece, will run for four performances from January 12th-14th at HappyLucky No.1 in Crown Heights, Brooklyn.
Creator and Director Sophie Amieva was struck by Ovid’s portrayal of Medusa as a young maiden turned into the monster we know as a result of being raped by Poseidon.
This piece, inspired by Medusa’s story, is about women and the stories of their bodies and pleasures. From Salome to Eve, how do we define a woman’s ascent to pleasure and orgasm? To be feminist, do we need to redefine sexuality as a whole? Today, can we look Medusa in the eyes?
January 12th-January 14th, 2018
Fri 8pm, Sat 8pm, Sun 3pm & 8pm
734 Nostrand Avenue Brooklyn New York 11216

Thrilled to be a founding member of this new theater collective co-directed by Shelby Brage and Wednesday Sue Derrico.
"Experimental Bitch Presents is a house for experimentation. We are a collective spanning both coasts (LA & NYC), providing production backing and artistic gifts, services and support. We are passionate about the urgency of social change and the responsibility of the artist to confront the present, respond to the past and develop the future. Our artists work as scientists do, developing experiments that require various components-- collaboration, a safe space, time, and resources. EBP provides a platform to work like this. Our artists are eager to participate in and/or facilitate non-discriminatory, educational and social artistic environments. EBP artists help one another question our urgent, non complacent observations of the world we live in. "
Join our community by attending any of our events like our monthly reading series "The Pussy Play Reading Group" - bring in a play written by a woman, lead a discussion - we'd love to hear from you!
Ghost Player (fka THE BRCA PROJECT) has been chosen as a Jeff Norton Dream Grant recipient for 2015. A researched-based testimonial play, Ghost Player is inspired by the many families living with and dying from BRCA in the Jewish community in which I grew up. I'll be returning to the Tampa Bay area later this month to finish my interviews and continue writing!
